Cannes Winning Director seeks locals for Full Length Feature

St. George, UT has so much untapped talent its not even funny. For every local hero who makes a splash-props to Rocco DeVillers and his thrilling action film "The Flyboys"-there's about fifty film makers who remain well under the radar. Our very own Boneman has been shopping around his outstanding rock n' roll horror fable "Fanclub" for quite sometime, while St. George screenwriter Richard Squire is currently in the midst of making a move on a thriller called "Marshalls" (you'll be hearing more about this one in coming months). This is to say nothing of the countless talented individuals who've come out of the Guerilla Film Competitions. It wouldn't surprise me at all if folks like Shaun Labrecque, James Beacham, Lonie Black, Brandon Tippets, Tysen Bang, Christian Navarrete, David Luchetti, Cragun Clayburn, Sam Perez, Sean Pullen, and Shayne Cullen all move on to bigger projects.

Also making quite the name for himself is Bobby Bowden, a talented local film maker who made big time news when his terrific "Through The Lens"-a wonderfully inspirational short film about achieving one's dream-- screened at the legendary Cannes Film Festival back in May. Since his auspicious trip to the French Riviera, Bowden has been involved in several other projects including a short called "The Anniversary Room" and a local sitcom entitled "Roomies". Now, this avid Rian Johnson and Alfred Hitchcock fan is ready to make the big leap.

This June, through the aid of producers Bernie Laub, Sheldon Demke, Jacob Schear and a truly enthusiastic film crew, Bowden will begin principle photography on his first feature, the aptly titled "13 Miles East Nowhere". This edgy, dramatic, character driven piece (think "Mean Creek" meets "A Simple Plan") benefits from a moody tone and a slight thriller tinge. I've had the privilege of reading the script, and if Bowden is able to inject even a mere ounce of his undeniable passion into this project, it's safe to say that "13 Miles East of Nowhere" will be a winner.

Currently, Bowden is casting the film and as a St. George resident, he's looking to give other locals an opportunity to take part in this outstanding project. Past experience is not necessarily a prerequisite but commitment and passion are highly recommended. Bowden and crew are looking to cast several key male and female roles ranging from ages 18 to 50.

The final round of auditions will take place at The Electric Theater (68 E. Tabernacle) on Thursday April 23rd, from 7:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. We want to encourage interested parties, both seasoned and new to the craft, to come on an out to this open casting call and show the production crew what you've got. This promises to be an incredible learning experience for those with a drive and passion for film. For more information, log on to linebreakproductions.com or email Bobby Bowden at .
