Oliver (Ashton Kutcher) and Emily (Amanda Peet) met on a flight from Los Angeles to New York seven years ago - each of them declaring that they couldn't be more wrong for each other. The fickle finger of fate, however, keeps bringing them back together over the next seven years, but the timing never seems right. As they struggle with their different partners, careers and breakups, they go from casual acquaintances to trusted friends who can say anything to one another. They remain friends throughout each others doomed attempts to find love and happiness, but as we all know from watching the trailers, it eventually occurs to them that they have something together …a lot like love.

I really shouldn't have liked this movie as much as I did, as a lot of the story was so contrived and overplayed, but for some odd reason I found myself enjoying it. You could almost call the movie "a lot like that romantic comedy you saw last month," but just different enough to entertain you. The movie really does nothing to set itself apart from all the other movies just like it, but it throws just enough of a novel spin on what you are expecting to be marginally entertaining. For a film of this kind the dialogue was the most disappointing aspect. Never do they have anything terribly profound to say, but rather tend to exchange a lot of shallow chit chat, that makes it obvious to anyone with an IQ over 100 that they would probably be perfect for each other.

I've defended Ashton Kutcher screen likability in the past and I've also found Amanda Peet to be quite delightful herself. Certainly neither of them are making much of an artistic stretch in this film. I for one wish Ashton Kutcher would keep expanding and showing his talents in movies like the Butterfly Effect and I expect more from Amanda Peet that the cute loveable, quirky girl she keeps playing. But, I will say that the two were able to conjur up a nice bit of chemistry together, which is the main thing that kept A Lot Like Love afloat. What can I say, this is a decent date movie and turned out to be slightly better than I I expected.

A lot like love was terribly disappointing for me, I too am a guilty pleasure fan of Ashton Kutcher, but I was very bored with this film and felt like the dialogue could have been lightyears better. Peet and Kutcher make the perfect couple, but I think this opportunity for them to shine together was very much wasted

They should have called it A Lot like shit, come on Dizzy pull your head out of your ass? Ashton Kutcher is a wanker who couldn't act his way out of a school play. I think you've been punkd matey

When I heard about alot like love, I thought it sounded like a very apt pairing between the leads and I just figured they'd really have a natural chemistry. As it turns out any chemistry they might have had was bureid beneath this tiresom and dull script. I think if Ganz and Mandell or someone of their caliber had written the script it would have been a real charmer, as it stands it's a lot like ho hum.

Hilarious picture caption - I'd have to go out on a limb and say that zboneman is the wittiest movie website out there.

A Lot Like Love should have been titled a lot like crap. What a waste of 2 hours and I'm a huge fan of whatsername - particularly her Full Nine Tits. At the end I figured Kutcher was going to put on his hat and yell punk'd. That's the only thing that could've save it.
