The Game Plan is another one of those cheesy feel good movies from the well intentioned folks at Disney. With all the quality stuff this studio is putting out in the animation department, you'd think there would be a little something left over for the live action division. Alas, for every five or six tremendous animated features Disney cranks out, there's at least one mediocre live action entry that audiences are forced to suffer through. While The Game Plan isn't necessarily the worst of the worst, there was hardly much effort put into it.

In The Game Plan, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays a cocky pro football player whose life is turned upside down when the young daughter he never knew he had, shows up on his doorstep. What follows is a series of cliched life lessons as The Rock quickly realizes that's there's much more to life than fame and fortune. The Rock is appealing and at the very least, he manages to make this obnoxious character somewhat likable through his undeniable charm. Young Madison Pettis shows potential as the cute-as-a-button youngster, but we never really get a chance to see what she and The Rock are truly capable of, because nothing in this silly movie rings true. I know this film is geared towards families, but that alone doesn't make it worth recommending. I'll give The Game Plan this though. It was better than The Pacifier.
