It's recently been reported that Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise are in heavy negotiations to do a remake of War of the Worlds. Very interesting. Over at chud.com, they seem keen on the idea simply because it will keep the new Indiana Jones film on the backburner (apparently, chud.com doesn't want to see Indy return). I'm torn on the prospects of a new Indiana Jones film. In all honesty, I really want to see it happen if they have a great story to work with. I for one thought Last Crusade was terrific. No one wants to see a bad Indy adventure, but I firmly believe that if it does happen, it will be a great movie.
As far as War of the Worlds, I'm intrigued. It's still in the early stages and I don't think they even have a script yet, but the thought of these two entertainers being involved sounds very appealing to me.
Meanwhile, Mr. Spielberg is putting final touches on The Terminal with Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It's due this summer.
